About
Michelle Yee is an Asian Canadian artist, photographer, & writer in San Francisco.
While Michelle has always been passionate about storytelling, she started her career as a commercial photographer in Toronto, Canada where she specialized primarily in editorial portrait, lifestyle, and documentary photography, and worked with a wide range of clients that included Mercedes-Benz, VICE, The Associated Press, Royal Bank of Canada, BUST Magazine, University of Toronto, Public Health Ontario, and The Globe and Mail.
In the summer of 2014, she co-founded SOFIA, a women’s photography collective that was active from 2014-2018. Together, SOFIA launched two group exhibitions, showed work internationally, and launched a year-long mentorship program for emerging women photographers.
In 2019, Michelle launched a Kickstarter campaign and raised $23,350 USD to independently publish her first book project, After That August; a photographic memoir that shares the personal story of how she returned to love after a divorce.
Michelle is presently working on her next book.
