Drowning

Drowning is a series of photomontages that represent a desperate attempt to repress the irrepressible. This project was conceived at a time when I felt engulfed by the unspeakable and had nowhere to put it.
These thoughts begged for release. Scratched violently onto paper while wanting to be screamed out loud. I tried to swallow them whole, hoping to keep them submerged and hidden.
Each giclée print was layered by hand and then individually made using a laser-cutting machine; lacerating each image like these thoughts did to life as I had known it. Their messages, however, are only revealed as seen under intimate conditions through the interplay of light and shadow.
